Claire in Highgate

We got to know Claire a few years ago when she joined and became active in the Highgate Branch of the Labour Party coming to meetings and helping with canvassing and leafleting. She then became joint Branch secretary and contributed that way as well. Claire was unfailingly cheerful, warm, helpful, and good to be with and meetings always felt better when she was there. She had a practical and reality-based approach to politics which I am sure was partly influenced by her understanding of how tough life was for too many people. Her social work experience and life principles informed her approach to policy and politics.

Sadly, she was with us for too short a time. We knew she was to have an op and that she could do less for the Branch, but her interest did not diminish, and she was able to zoom on occasion. Visiting her at home, Claire made light of her illness and talked about books and other interests and it was a pleasure to get to know her a little better.

I am sure all her  family and friends will remember Claire with love and with admiration for the way she lived her life. I certainly will.
